![]() ![]() For the past couple of months my Mac Pro (1 TB capacity - 377 GB free) is not recognising the external drives for back up. Any help is appreciated!īack up drives External drives tend to be unreliable, so I have been using WD, Seagate and Toshiba external drives to also back up. The external drive that I want included in the backup but is grayed out in the "Exclude" list is also formatted "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". ![]() The drive I'm using for Time Machine is formatted "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". ![]() These are the same drives I've used for year so I can't understand what has changed with them. But since a recent Mac OS software upgrade, I am getting an error message that says "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to "Time Machine 4TB Backup." An error occurred while preparing the backup." Further, the second external drive with my images is on the "Exclude these items from backup list" and grayed out so I can't take it off the list. Along with it, I use a second Backup Plus Portable Drive to store images that is backed up to the Time Machine Drive. For several years, I have used a Seagate 4TB Backup Plus for Mac external drive as my Time Machine Backup Drive. ![]()
